The Hyperion 5GF is a standard laser welding machine cell which is designed for the high speed spot or seam welding of flat components presented via a dual slide shuttle table. It is suitable for laser welding of metals including steels, nickel alloys, copper and aluminium. A high power fibre laser is used as the laser source with the beam delivered to the components using a galvo scanning head, mounted to a linear gantry assembly, which is capable of moving the beam rapidly and accurately from point to point. Welding geometry is programmed easily in the galvo control software and spot or seam welding can be selected, the time to move from point to point is very short as the galvo head has mirrors capable of high acceleration and deceleration with low inertia.
An operator at the front of the machine, manually loads fixtures attached to alternate shuttle tables, which carry unwelded parts into the enclosure and welded parts out of the enclosure for unloading at the end of the weld cycle.
Fitted with a solid state fibre laser source, or whichever source suits the application best, the system can be figured with the most appropriate laser source to suit the application and customer preference. Additional component fixturing, machine vision and automation can be offered to enhance the capability of the standard system.
